VENEZUELA: Chávez finds common ground with opposition

President Hugo Chávez has been making headlines at home and abroad for his distinct response to the current uprising in Libya. The Venezuelan opposition has been fiercely critical of his failure to condemn Colonel Muammar Gaddafi for firing on his own people. The focus on foreign policy discrepancies, however, has diverted attention away from potentially significant cooperation between the Chávez administration and the opposition over domestic security issues.
